Your vote. Your voice.
Don’t silence yourself by not voting!
If you are:
- A U.S. citizen
- 18 years old by the time the election is held
- A resident of a city or township for at least 30 days
Let us help you register to vote!
It’s easy, fast and you have three options to choose from.
Register in person
You can register to vote at your city or township clerk’s office up until election day, as well as at any Secretary of State branch office. After verifying your residency, you will complete a short application for processing.
Register online
Macomb has partnered with TurboVote to make it more convenient for you to register to vote online. Just visit TurboVote and follow the prompts.
You’ll also be able to sign up for TurboVote reminders about registration deadlines and upcoming elections at the same time.
You can also register to vote online at the Michigan Voter Information Center
Important reminder: online registration should be completed at least 15 days before an election!
Register on campus
Student Life and Leadership celebrates National Voter Registration Day each year on the third Tuesday in September by inviting the county clerk's office to campus to assist in registering students to vote.
Voting absentee before the election
Any registered voter can vote absentee by mail or in person at a municipal clerk’s office without any excuse or reason.
Absentee ballot request forms must be received by your local election official by 5 pm the Friday before election day.
If you’re already registered at your current address, you can request and vote an absentee ballot in person at your municipal clerk’s office up to 4 p.m. on the day before Election Day.
If you’re registering to vote or updating your address by appearing at your clerk’s office on election day, you can request and vote an absentee ballot at the same time you register.
Voters with disabilities may request that their mail ballots be electronically transmitted to them. For more information, visit: https://mvic.sos.state.mi.us/Home/AccessibleVoting
You can return your completed absentee ballot by mailing it to your clerk’s office, dropping it off in person at a clerk’s office or drop box location.
Completed absentee ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on election day.
Voting on election day
Voting polls (sites) will be open from 7 am to 8 pm on election day. Your voter registration card, which you should have received in the mail after your registration was processed, will tell you what precinct you are voting in and its location.
Remember to bring your official ID.
The Michigan Secretary of State’s office recommends that voters with disabilities contact their clerk in advance to determine if their polling place is accessible; if it is not, the clerk will assign them to an alternative polling place.
If you are in line by closing time, you have the right to vote.
