For many people, spring and summer mean enjoying sunny days, relaxing vacations and spending time with friends and family. Although it’s important to find time to relax during the warmer months, for college students, the spring and summer are ideal times to take an extra class or two.
Taking spring and summer classes at Macomb and other community colleges offers several benefits:
- It’s a smart way to make steady progress—and maybe even finish your degree earlier than expected.
- You’ll lighten your fall and winter course loads, freeing up more time during the academic year for internships, part-time jobs or extracurricular activities
- Classes at community colleges are smaller, providing more personalized attention
- It’s a great opportunity to explore different subjects and interests without the pressure of a full course load
- Staying engaged in academic activities over the summer can help you maintain study habits and keep your mind sharp, easing the transition to your next year
- Community colleges have lower tuition rates, saving you money. At Macomb, our transfer agreements with most of Michigan's four-year institutions make it easy for you to transfer your courses and stay on track with degree requirements.
- Semesters are shorter! Choose between four, six, eight and 12-week formats, with start dates in May and June.
Students enrolled at other colleges and universities can apply and register now as guest students at Macomb. Spring classes begin May 19 and Summer classes start June 16. To learn more, check out our guest student webpage.
