Tuesday, March 11, 2025 12:00 AM

With the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence, robotics and computer aided design, careers in engineering, technology and design are in high demand, offering exciting opportunities for skilled professionals.
Macomb will showcase these fields and more on March 13 during our Engineering and Advanced Technology program spotlight at our South Campus in Warren. At the 7 pm event, participants will hear from Macomb faculty and staff and tour our state-of-the-art Skilled Trades and Advanced Technology Center (T Building).
Explore high-demand, high-earning career programs
During this 90-minute session, participants will receive a broad range of information on Macomb’s engineering and advanced technology offerings including:
- Skilled trades
- Media and communication arts
- Manufacturing
- Apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship opportunities
Attendees will also learn about the career possibilities that are available through these programs. Macomb Media and Communication Arts faculty member Shaun Sarcona is excited to highlight this particular program, noting that career opportunities in this field extend beyond the obvious, with paths in industries like automotive and technical fields.
“An easy way to find careers in our field is to look at any company and think about all the things they use,” Sarcona said. “Commercials, animations, flyers, websites, social media, illustrations, logos, banners, etc. The list goes on. Those are our people.”
Learn about career opportunities from those working in the field
Faculty in many of Macomb’s programs have all worked in their respective fields, bringing both extensive experience and knowledge to the classroom. Faculty member Jim Carlson, who has worked in the automotive industry, will be in attendance to answer questions related to product development, digital sculpting, manufacturing engineering and more.
In addition, Carlson said he’s excited to share his enthusiasm about students entering these in-demand fields. “When you see a student get excited about landing their first job in the field they are studying, that is my favorite part,” he said.
The event is Thursday, March 13 at 7pm at T Building on South Campus.
There is no cost to attend.
